Bloomberg, who has a penchant for hyperbole, was at it again this month when he fumed that New York State’s guarantee to shelter the homeless means ‘you can arrive in your private jet at Kennedy Airport, take a private limousine and go straight to the shelter system, and walk in the door and we’ve got to give you shelter.’ Advocates for the homeless accused the mayor, no stranger to private jets, of insensitivity. But while Mr. Bloomberg’s wording might have been inelegant, the substance of his comment does not appear to be far from the mark: More people who gave their last address as outside New York are entering the city’s shelter system…”
